Denver NC
Just 25 miles from downtown Charlotte, you’ll find the small
Lincoln County NC community of Denver. This area is easily accessed via Hwy NC 16 and located on the western side of Lake Norman. The town was once known in the area as Dry Pond, as there was a small pond located at the crossroads in town that typically would dry up during the warm summers. In the late 1800’s, D. Matt Thompson, the headmaster of
the local Rock Springs Academy, campaigned to change the town’s name officially to Denver, after the booming Colorado town.
This was done in an effort to try to build up the local economy, and the town has been called
Denver ever since.
Historically, Denver has been a rural, farming community with many of those not working in agriculture commuting to other regions
in our area. Today, Denver remains largely rural, however many industries have moved into town, and the area has a charming downtown region with unique stores and boutiques. In fact, modular home builder, R-Anell
